Baseball Game Preview: Rolling Meadows Mustangs vs. Grant Community Bulldogs

The Rolling Meadows Mustangs are taking a road trip to challenge the Grant Community Bulldogs at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Rolling Meadows is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.

Rolling Meadows was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Schaumburg on Friday. The Mustangs put the hurt on the Saxons with a sharp 15-2 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Mustangs considering their one-run performance the game before.

Tyler Stankiewicz was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Rolling Meadows got a massive performance out of Josh Rappa, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits Rappa has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Callum Paisley, who went 1-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Rolling Meadows was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Grant Community came up short against Lakes on Thursday and fell 8-5.

With the victory, Rolling Meadows broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 20-11. As for Grant Community, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-13 record this season.

Rolling Meadows couldn't quite finish off Grant Community in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 and fell 5-3. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
