Regis Groff will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 293rd, while Prospect Ridge Academy is ranked 127th).
Last Tuesday, Regis Groff came up short against Hinkley and fell 63-53. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Regis Groff in their matchups with Hinkley: they've now lost four in a row.
Regis Groff's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Darius Owens, who scored 12 points along with eight steals, and Mahmoud Ibrahim who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Miguel Morales, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Prospect Ridge Academy scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Liberty Common 78-44 at home. Prospect Ridge Academy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 20 points or more this season.
Prospect Ridge Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Liam Schilling, who scored 23 points along with two steals. Tyler Brandt was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with two steals.
Regis Groff's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Prospect Ridge Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season.
Tuesday's game is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Regis Groff have been dynamite from deep this season, having only made 34.2% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Prospect Ridge Academy struggles in that department as they've drained 43.1% of their threes per game this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Regis Groff was taken down by Prospect Ridge Academy 69-27 in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Regis Groff was down 41-15.
