The Jackson-Reed Tigers will head out on the road to challenge the Anacostia Indians at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in District of Columbia (Jackson-Reed is ranked fourth, while the Indians are ranked eighth).
After soaring to a 60-point win in their last game, Jackson-Reed came back down to earth on Friday. They fell just short of Coolidge by a score of 43-40. It was the first time this season that Jackson-Reed let down their fans at home.
Despite the loss, Jackson-Reed saw an underclassman step up: Noa Gordon dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds. Gordon is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Kryslynn Stewart, who scored ten points along with seven steals and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Anacostia came up short against the Roughriders on Monday and fell 48-40.
Jackson-Reed's loss ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 13-7. As for Anacostia, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-10 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Jackson-Reed against the Indians when the teams last played back in March of 2023 as the team secured a 63-33 victory. Will Jackson-Reed repeat their success, or do the Indians have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
