Softball Recap: Volunteer's Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Volunteer). They never let the Chuckey-Doak Black Knights get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory on Tuesday. The Falcons' win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Zetta Smith and Emily Walker did most of the damage at the plate: Smith scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Walker scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenna Thomas, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.

Volunteer always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chuckey-Doak only posted an OBP of .231.

Volunteer's record now sits at 6-0. As for Chuckey-Doak, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Volunteer will square off against Cherokee at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Chuckey-Doak, they will face off against Greeneville at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Chuckey-Doak's pitchers better be ready for this one: Greeneville has averaged an impressive 9.9 runs per game this season.
