The Orange Park Raiders fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Fleming Island Golden Eagles on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They and the Golden Eagles were almost perfectly matched up, but they suffered an agonizing 28-27 loss. Orange Park has not had much luck with Fleming Island recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Orange Park's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Gabe Taylor, who threw for 112 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a rushing scores.
Even if they lost, Orange Park's defense sure didn't make it easy: Fleming Island's QB was sacked six times before it was all said and done. The heavy lifting was done by Rory Childs and Ashnel Louiceus who racked up five sacks between them.
Orange Park's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Fleming Island, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-7.
Orange Park does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Fleming Island also has no future games currently scheduled.
