The Greenfield-Central Cougars had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They walked away with a 27-17 win over Pendleton Heights. That's another feather in the cap for Greenfield-Central, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Leading Greenfield-Central to victory were Cooper Hinton and Jacob Hinton. Hinton rushed for 84 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries, while Hinton rushed for 118 yards and two touchdowns. Hinton was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 50 yards.
Several Arabians players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Caden Sims, who picked up 51 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Greenfield-Central's win bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Pendleton Heights, their loss dropped their record down to 7-3.
Greenfield-Central will head out on the road to face off against New Palestine at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. New Palestine is on a five-game streak of home wins, Greenfield-Central a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the field. Pendleton Heights does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
