Kaitlyn Macias was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in April of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in home runs.
In other pitching news, Kate Skinner looked comfortable as she struck out ten batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off six hits (and only one walk).
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Isabella Rice, who fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-3. Taylor Jennings was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double.
Liberty was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Union only posted a batting average of .259.
Meanwhile, Granada took care of business in their home opener (barely) on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over College Park.
Ella Vonbergen looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
At the plate, Delaney Aumua was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Katelyn Stepkowski, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Liberty came up short against Granada when the teams last played back in April of 2024, falling 8-3. Can Liberty avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
