Grace Christian is 9-1 against Roanoke Valley Christian since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. Grace Christian came out on top against Faith Christian Academy on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive ten-run first inning. The Warriors blew past Faith Christian Academy 15-5. The win continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with Faith Christian Academy: they've now won five in a row.
Landon Wright made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Davis Reid, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Ethan Wright was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Roanoke Valley Christian, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Blue Ridge 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the EAGLES have posted since April 30, 2024.
Luke Somers was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Ethan Cummings also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Grace Christian pushed their record up to 11-2 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.1 runs over those games. As for Roanoke Valley Christian, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-10.
