Hampden's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Zoelle Raymond, who had eight digs and five aces. That's the most aces Raymond has posted since back in September. Another player making a difference was Addison Schall, who had ten digs and three aces.
They weren't the only good servers: Hampden was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 18 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 16 aces in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Ellsworth faced Brewer in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Eagles walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Witches.
Ellsworth walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the fourth set). The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 26-24, 25-27, 25-15.
The victory got Ellsworth back to even at 6-6. As for Hampden, the win also got them back to even at 6-6.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's match: Hampden has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 15.8 aces per game. However, it's not like Ellsworth struggles in that department as they've been averaging 14.1 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Hampden suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Ellsworth in their previous meeting back in September. Can the Broncos avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
