Chevak has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Unalakleet Wolfpack at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Chevak has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 327 points over their last five matches.
Chevak pushed their score all the way to 59 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 68-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Scammon Bay. While losing is never fun, Chevak can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alaska basketball rankings (they are ranked 44th, while Scammon Bay is ranked sixth).
Unalakleet can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They came out on top against Homer by a score of 75-63. Unalakleet's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Chevak's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Unalakleet, their win bumped their record up to 4-6.
Chevak was taken down by Unalakleet 90-30 in their previous meeting back in January of 2020. Can Chevak avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
