Video: Behind the scenes at the McDonald's All American GameWatch several players, including boys' Player of the Year candidate Michael Porter, share their personality.
For the second straight year, they needed overtime to decide the winner in Chicago.
Powered by Texas-bound
Rellah Boothe (18 points, nine rebounds) of
IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) and UConn-commit
Megan Walker (13 points, nine rebounds) of
Monacan (Richmond, Va.), the East pulled out an 80-74 overtime win over the West in the 16th McDonald's All American Game at Chicago's United Center.
The West, powered by
Sidney Cooks, a 6-foot-4 forward from
St. Joseph (Kenosha, Wis.), led by as many as 13 in the second half, but the East slowly clawed back, taking its first lead 64-63 on a 3-pointer by Boothe, one of four made by the 6-1 forward. Boothe was selected the game's MVP.
Two free throws and a bucket by Cooks, bound for Michigan State, tied the game at 69, sending it to overtime.
From there, two free throws by
Chasity Patterson, of
North Shore (Houston), gave the East a 73-72 lead with 1:38 in overtime and
Kasiyahna Kushkituah of
St. Francis (Alpharetta, Ga.) followed with a layup and the West would never take the lead again. Patterson, the winner of Monday's three-point contest, had 10 points in the first half and finished with 14 points. She, like Boothe, is headed to Texas.
This year's players were selected from more than 750 nominees by the McDonald's All American Games selection committee.
Past participants in the McDonald's All American Game include Candace Parker, Maya Moore, Elena Delle Donne and Breanna Stewart.

East forward Rellah Boothe of IMG Academy was named the game's MVP after scoring 18 points.
