The Smithfield Sentinels have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 24 points or more this season. They blew past Woonsocket, posting a 58-16 win on the road. Winning may never get old, but Smithfield sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
Smithfield can attribute much of their success to Ashley Gagner, who scored 12 points. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Haley Ellis, who scored eight points.
Smithfield's victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Woonsocket, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Smithfield will take on Chariho at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Woonsocket, they will be playing at home against West Warwick at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully West Warwick focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Friday.
