The Forreston Cardinals are taking a road trip to take on the Dakota Indians at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Forreston is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.
Forreston is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 19-3 margin over Polo on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Cardinals, who have now won ten contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Carson Akins was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Brendan Greenfield and Connor Politsch did most of the damage at the plate: Greenfield got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base, while Politsch went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave Greenfield a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cadan Hoffman, who earned three runs.
Forreston was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .450. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Polo only posted a batting average of .250.
Forreston typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Dakota proved too difficult a challenge. They skirted past the Cardinals 4-3.
Dakota saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brodie Goode, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double. Braxton Mazurkiewicz was another, earning three RBI and one stolen base.
Forreston is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Dakota, they now have a winning record of 10-9.
