Camas hasn't had much luck against Skyview recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Papermakers will look to defend their home field against the Storm at 4:30 p.m. Camas is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.
On Monday, Camas came up short against Battle Ground and fell 8-5. The Papermakers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Camas saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sophia Chambers, who went 1-for-4 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, Skyview came tearing into Monday's matchup with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Titans get on the board and left with a 17-0 win. Considering the Storm have won 11 contests by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Maddie Milhorn made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Addy Harmier was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Taylor Lies, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs and one stolen base.
Skyview kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in six consecutive games.
Skyview's victory was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Camas, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9.
Wednesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Camas hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .345. However, it's not like Skyview struggles in that department as they've averaged .455. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Camas suffered a grim 15-3 defeat to Skyview when the teams last played on Tuesday. Can the Papermakers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
