It was a good run, but the North Brunswick Scorpions unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 72-64 to New Hanover. While losing is never fun, North Brunswick can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 91st, while New Hanover is ranked sixth).
When it comes to explaining why North Brunswick lost, one person who can't be blamed is Malakhi Daniels. Despite the final result, he scored 23 points along with six rebounds. Daniels is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Terry Hood, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds.
New Hanover got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Rodmik Allen out in front who scored 19 points along with two steals. Allen is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Nolan Billings was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds.
North Brunswick's defeat ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 16-5. As for New Hanover, their victory was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-0.
North Brunswick will face off against West Brunswick at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. North Brunswick knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully West Brunswick likes a good challenge. As for New Hanover, they will be playing at home against Laney at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. New Hanover has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
