After flying high against the Glenn Falcons on Tuesday, the South Bend Clay Colonials came back down to earth. South Bend Clay was the victim of a tough 73-53 defeat at the hands of Penn on Friday. South Bend Clay was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-22.
South Bend Clay's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shaquille Edwards, who scored 19 points. The game was Edwards' third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ahmad King, who scored 12 points along with 5 assists and 4 steals.
Penn can attribute much of their success to Trey Miller, who scored 19 points along with 8 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Maverick Brown, who scored 9 points along with 6 rebounds.
South Bend Clay's loss dropped their record down to 2-1. As for Penn, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
South Bend Clay will be playing at home against Niles at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Penn, they will head out on the road to face off against Crown Point at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Crown Point will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 84th, while Penn is ranked third).
