The Delone Catholic Squires will take on the Fairfield Knights at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Delone Catholic was handed a 15-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past West York Area 3-2. The Squires' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Jack Wilson made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4. That run was his first of the season.
Wilson wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Zach Staub, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Preston Younkins also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Fairfield, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They had just enough and edged out York Catholic 14-13. With that win, the Knights brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Gavin Cramer and Brady Cahill did most of the damage at the plate: Cramer scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Cahill scored a run while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Vaughn Lewis, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI.
Fairfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matches.
Delone Catholic's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Fairfield, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Delone Catholic has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Fairfield struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Delone Catholic's way against Fairfield in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Delone Catholic made off with a 10-0 victory. Will Delone Catholic repeat their success, or does Fairfield has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
