It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Grand Traverse Academy Mustangs ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They secured a 42-36 W over Forest Area. The win was just what Grand Traverse Academy needed coming off of a 41-18 loss in their prior match.
Grand Traverse Academy can attribute much of their success to Megan Pavwoski, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Pavwoski pulled down eight or more rebounds. Paige Bell was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five steals.
Grand Traverse Academy's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Forest Area, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Grand Traverse Academy will take on St. Mary at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Mary will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. As for Forest Area, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Central Lake at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Michigan (Central Lake is ranked 639th, while Forest Area is ranked 625th).
