Football Recap: Hersey Piles Up the Points Against Elk Grove

Hersey won the last time they faced Elk Grove and things went their way on Friday too. The Huskies claimed a resounding 54-14 victory over the Grenadiers. The Huskies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by 40 points or more this season.

Hersey was led to victory by Jake Nawrot and Brandon Jenkins. Nawrot threw for 178 yards and four TDs while completing 81.8% of his passes, while Jenkins gained 110 total yards and four touchdowns. The dominant performance also gave Nawrot a new career-high in rushing yards (24). Josh Riggs was another key player, picking up 91 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Hersey didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jenkins and Tyler Wentink. Jenkins got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Hersey's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 4.7 points on average over those games. As for Elk Grove, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-5.
