The Cedaredge Bruins will face off against the Meeker Cowboys at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Cedaredge has four straight victories, Meeker has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
While Cedaredge didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with an 11-8 win over Nucla on Friday.

Tel Geyer and Brady Cooper were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, Geyer struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Cooper tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Those six strikeouts gave Geyer a new career-high. At bat, Geyer scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Cooper scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Cooper has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
In other batting news, Dane Brown and Carson Rupp did most of the damage at the plate: Brown scored a run while going 1-for-1, while Rupp scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Meeker came up short against Salida on Saturday, falling 13-2.
Cooper Arnold was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Cedaredge's record is now 4-1. As for Meeker, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.
Meeker's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Cedaredge has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .483. It's a different story for Meeker, though, as they've only averaged .278. Will they be able to contain Cedaredge's hitters?
Cedaredge might still be hurting after the 14-4 loss they got from Meeker in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Bruins avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
