It continues to be one of the biggest high school football tournaments in the country.
The Southern Section not only is big, but it also boasts some of the best teams in the country as well.
In fact, heading into the 2019 playoffs, the nation's top two teams, Mater Dei (Santa Ana) and St. John Bosco (Bellflower), will be part of the Southern Section's Division I tourney.
But that's just the tip of the iceberg.
Quality 11-person squads permeate throughout all 14 divisions. Add in two 8-person divisions and the Southern Section offers a little bit of everything.
Section play opens Nov. 8-9 and concludes Nov. 29-30.
Defending 11-person champions: Mater Dei (D1), Upland (D2), Sierra Canyon (D3), Grace Brethren (D4), Lawndale (D5), South Hills (D6), Culver City (D7), Kaiser (D8), San Gorgonio (D9), Eisenhower (D10), Western (D11), Linfield Christian (D12), Adelanato (D13).
