The Galloway Scots's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They fell 58-47 to Woodward Academy. While losing is never fun, Galloway can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 416th, while Woodward Academy is ranked 87th).
Galloway's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ben Howery, who scored 10 points. The team also got some help courtesy of JB Clark, who scored 8 points along with 12 rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Woodward Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Deke Cooper, who scored 15 points along with 5 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Miles Harvey, who scored 13 points.
Galloway bumped their record down to 1-8 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Woodward Academy, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-2.
Galloway will be playing at home against Whitefield Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Woodward Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Mundy's Mill at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mundy's Mill knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Woodward Academy likes a good challenge.
