The First Assembly Christian Crusaders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 44-43 to White Station. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as First Assembly Christian came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 44th, while White Station is ranked 191st).
Despite the loss, First Assembly Christian saw an underclassman step up: Danae Kennedy shot 5-for-6 from long range and dropped a double-double on 17 points and 10 rebounds. Kennedy scored a full 39.5% of First Assembly Christian's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Marlena Davis, who dropped a double-double on 10 points and 11 rebounds.
First Assembly Christian's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for White Station, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. First Assembly Christian will square off against Houston at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for White Station, they will head out on the road to face off against West Memphis at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
