Basketball Recap: Cedar Valley Extends Winning Streak to Four

Cedar Valley lost to Maple Mountain back in February of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Cedar Valley Aviators secured a 51-47 W over the Maple Mountain Golden Eagles. Winning may never get old, but the Aviators sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Despite the loss, Maple Mountain saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Leah Bailey went 6 of 10 from beyond the arc en route to 29 points. That was a full 61.7% of Maple Mountain's points, marking the third time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashlynn Lainhart, who put up eight points and seven steals.

Cedar Valley pushed their record up to 9-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. As for Maple Mountain, they now have a losing record at 6-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cedar Valley will host Timpview at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Maple Mountain, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Spanish Fork at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Maple Mountain is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.1 points per game this season.
