Prairie View Academy is on a six-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Claiborne Academy is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Spartans will challenge the Rebels at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Hayden Little and Kyler Monk.
Prairie View Academy is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Louisiana's top teams: River Oaks, who was ranked first at the time (Prairie View Academy was ranked third). The Spartans lost 46-26 to the Mustangs on Friday. The contest marked the Spartans' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Claiborne Academy). They breezed past Union Christian Academy to the tune of 58-18 on Friday. Fans of the Rebels have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.
Claiborne Academy's win came from a few key players Prairie View Academy will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Cade Smith, who rushed for 61 yards and one TD, and also caught one touchdown. Another player making a difference was Dylan Buckner, who gained 81 total yards and three touchdowns.
Claiborne Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Monk, Kade Suggs, and Buckner picked up one apiece. Buckner got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Having lost for the first time this season, Prairie View Academy fell to 7-1. As for Claiborne Academy, their win bumped their record up to 8-0.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Prairie View Academy has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 217 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Claiborne Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 212.9 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Prairie View Academy took their victory against Claiborne Academy in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 57-36 score. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Buckner, who rushed for 196 yards and four scores while picking up 12.3 yards per carry, and also picked up 36 receiving yards.
