Meanwhile, Clovis hadn't done well against Roswell recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way  on Tuesday. The Wildcats had just enough and edged out the Coyotes  3-2.
 Clovis wouldn't go down easily and took Roswell into a fifth set  where they got it done with a two-point win. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-18, 25-27, 21-25,  16-14.
 Clovis' win came from a few key players Carlsbad will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was  Brynn Petner, who  had 15  kills, 14  digs,  and four  aces. Those  15  kills gave  her a new career-high.  Amor Soto was another key player,  getting 15  digs and ten  aces.
 Carlsbad's  win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 5-14. As for Clovis, their record is now 9-10.
