The Kings Knights will be playing at home against the West Clermont Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Kings will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 61st, while West Clermont is ranked 19th).
Last Tuesday, Kings was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 45-39 to Lebanon.
Meanwhile, West Clermont waltzed into their match on Monday with two straight wins but they left with three. They blew past Anderson 52-30. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win West Clermont has posted against Anderson since February 6, 2019.
West Clermont's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Taylor Schmidt, who scored ten points along with five assists and four steals. Schmidt hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Paige Rodriguez, who scored 18 points.
Kings' loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-5. As for West Clermont, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season.
Kings was able to grind out a solid win over West Clermont when the teams last played back in December of 2023, winning 43-34. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Rodriguez, who scored 19 points. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Kings still be able to contain him?
