The Calvary Baptist Academy Cavaliers will challenge the Many Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Calvary Baptist Academy's pitching crew has only allowed 1.4 runs per game this season, so Many's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Calvary Baptist Academy is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Louisiana's top teams: Sterlington, who was ranked 21st at the time (Calvary Baptist Academy was ranked first). The Cavaliers fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 2-1 on Monday. The matchup marked the Cavaliers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Carlie Guile made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Meanwhile, Many had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They walked away with a 7-2 win over Pitkin.
Baylee Samples spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Rylee Gunter, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Allie Payne, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.
Many pushed their record up to 14-7 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Calvary Baptist Academy, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 31-1.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Calvary Baptist Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .430. However, it's not like Many struggles in that department as they've averaged .326. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Calvary Baptist Academy's way against Many when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as Calvary Baptist Academy made off with a 16-1 victory. Will the Cavaliers repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
