Basketball Game Preview: Peyton Panthers vs. SkyView Academy Hawks

The Peyton Panthers will take on the SkyView Academy Hawks in a holiday battle at at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with four losses in a row dating back to last season, Peyton turned things around against Limon on Thursday. They took down the Badgers 43-29.

It was another big night for Michael Perry, who posted 15 points and five assists. His evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Trent Gregg, who put up eight points and seven rebounds.

Perry wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Peyton was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, SkyView Academy beat Platte Valley 45-33 on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hawks.

Peyton better keep an eye on Reagan Lewis. He was instrumental in SkyView Academy's win, going 7 of 12 on his way to 15 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Clay Cosart, who had nine points and five boards.

SkyView Academy pushed their record up to 2-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.0 points per game. As for Peyton, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Peyton has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 26 rebounds per game. However, it's not like SkyView Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30 boards.
