After a string of four wins, the Norfolk Catholic Knights's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 38-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of Crofton. While losing is never fun, Norfolk Catholic can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 55th, while Crofton is ranked fifth).
Norfolk Catholic's loss came despite strong showings from Eva Hartzell and Hayden Brummer. Hartzell scored 13 points, while Brummer scored six points along with five rebounds and two steals.
It was another big night for Cassie Allen, who scored 14 points along with two steals for Crofton. Allen is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Sammie Allen, who scored three points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Norfolk Catholic's loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-8. As for Crofton, their win was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-0.
Norfolk Catholic will be playing in front of their home fans against Osmond/Randolph at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Norfolk Catholic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Thursday. As for Crofton, they and West Central will face off at 6:30 p.m. on February 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
