The Mountain View Eagles will face off against the Dunmore Bucks at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Mountain View has given up an average of 10.4 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Mountain View is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten runs on Thursday, they were much more limited against Hanover Area on Tuesday. They came up short against the Hawkeyes, falling 11-1.
Mountain View saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addison Kilmer, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Dunmore entered their tilt with Western Wayne on Tuesday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They blew past the Wildcats 12-6. The Bucks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.
Rachel Walsh and Paige Ancherani were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Walsh tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Meanwhile, Ancherani didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. At bat, Walsh went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Ancherani went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Dunmore let Emily McGowan and Jackie Brown run wild. McGowan went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base, while Brown went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most doubles McGowan has posted since back in March. Peyton Ancherani was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Dunmore was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .441. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Dunmore's victory bumped their record up to 13-5. As for Mountain View, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.
