Baseball Game Preview: Archbishop Ryan Raiders and Ragdolls vs. Neumann-Goretti Saints

The Archbishop Ryan Raiders and Ragdolls will square off against the Neumann-Goretti Saints at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Archbishop Ryan was handed a nine-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Devon Prep, sneaking past 4-2.

Sean Cahill spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits. He has become a key player for Archbishop Ryan: the team is 6-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-5 otherwise.

At the plate, Archbishop Ryan's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jake Marchesano, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Marchesano has posted since back in May of 2024.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Neumann-Goretti, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They never let Central get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory on Monday. The Saints haven't had any issues with the Lancers recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Johnluca LaSpada looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

Neumann-Goretti's victory bumped their record up to 8-6-1. As for Archbishop Ryan, their win bumped their record up to 9-6.
