Downers Grove North is 10-0 against Proviso West since January of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Downers Grove North Trojans will be home for the holidays to greet the Proviso West Panthers at 7:30 p.m. Downers Grove North will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
Last Tuesday, Downers Grove North beat Hinsdale Central 58-46. Given Downers Grove North's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 56th, while Hinsdale Central is ranked 294th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Downers Grove North to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kaitlyn Parker, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Ann Stephens, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, Proviso West's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by Glenbard West 66-39.
Downers Grove North is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. As for Proviso West, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4-1.
Everything came up roses for Downers Grove North against Proviso West in their previous meeting back in February as the squad secured a 57-27 victory. Will Downers Grove North repeat their success, or does Proviso West have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
