Cotulla is 8-2 against Lytle since March of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Cowboys will be playing at home against the Pirates at 5:00 p.m. Cotulla will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
On Tuesday, Cotulla earned a 9-6 victory over Hondo.
Christlyn Munoz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits.
At the plate, Sareen Ramirez was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Eloyandra Zertuche, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI and one run.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Cotulla kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hondo only managed seven.
Meanwhile, Lytle gave up the first runs on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against Natalia by a score of 9-6.
Claire Canales made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off seven hits. Canales was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mikailah Mejia, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI and one triple. Payton Devaney was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Cotulla's win bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Lytle, their victory bumped their record up to 9-6-2.
Lytle's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Cotulla has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Lytle, though, as they've been averaging only 3.3 strikeouts. Will Cotulla keep running through batters, or will the Pirates buck the trend?
Cotulla came out on top in a nail-biter against Lytle in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, sneaking past 8-7. Will the Cowboys repeat their success, or do the Pirates have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
