The Mooseheart Red Ramblers suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Thursday. Their rough 70-50 loss to Unity Christian Academy might stick with them for a while. Mooseheart has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, Mooseheart saw an underclassman step up: John McGowin scored 18 points. Tolu Erinolu was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Unity Christian Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Donovan O'Neil out in front who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 assists. O'Neil has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Shamar Coleman, who scored 25 points along with two steals.
Mooseheart now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Unity Christian Academy, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-6.
Mooseheart will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Kankakee Trinity Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th. Kankakee Trinity Academy is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 64.1 points per game. As for Unity Christian Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Grace Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Grace Christian Academy has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 14.
