After a string of three wins, the Nottoway Cougars's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 56-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Buckingham. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Nottoway of the 65-52 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January.
When it comes to explaining why Nottoway lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kendreyeus Johnson. Despite the final result, he scored 20 points. Johnson has been hot recently, having posted 18 or more points the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Benjamin Sykes, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds.
Nottoway's defeat dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Buckingham, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-5.
Nottoway does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Buckingham, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 63-57 victory vs. Amelia County on the 10th.
