The Bellevue East Chieftains and the Gretna Dragons will round out the year against one another at 12:00 p.m. on Friday at. Hopefully Bellevue East focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 last Friday.
Bellevue East struggled with threes last Friday (Papillion-LaVista had ten more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Bellevue East took a hard 54-38 fall against Papillion-LaVista. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Bellevue East has scored all season.
Bellevue East's loss came about despite a quality game from Mya Weber, who scored six points along with five steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Jazlin Reimer, who scored six points.
Meanwhile, Gretna humbled Bryan with a 45-5 victory. The team accrued 40 points in the first half and coasted on those for the victory.
Gretna found their leader in underclassman Ava Mcartor, who scored 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Anna Weberg, who scored eight points.
Bellevue East's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Gretna, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 4-4 record this season.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Bellevue East hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 55.2 points per game. It's a different story for Gretna, though, as they've been averaging only 44 points per game. The only thing between Bellevue East and another offensive beatdown is Gretna. Will they be able to keep them contained?
Bellevue East didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Gretna in their previous matchup on December 2nd, but they still walked away with a 62-58 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Gretna's Maggie Miller, who scored 21 points. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Bellevue East still be able to contain him? There's only one way to find out.
