Spring Hill is 2-8 against Henderson since March of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Spring Hill Panthers face off against Henderson Lions at 6:30 p.m. Spring Hill has given up an average of 7.3 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
Spring Hill is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They lost 14-2 to Carthage. That's two games in a row now that the Panthers have lost by exactly 12 runs.
Spring Hill saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Peyton Dees, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases. That's the most hits Dees has posted over her last 12 contests.
Meanwhile, Henderson came tearing into Thursday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Pirates a 12-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won nine matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Mckenna Moon was excellent, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.
Henderson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pine Tree only posted a batting average of .000.
Henderson's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Spring Hill, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-8-1.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Spring Hill hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .422. However, it's not like Henderson struggles in that department as they've averaged .355. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Spring Hill might still be hurting after the 16-1 loss they got from Henderson in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Spring Hill avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
