St. John had lost four games at home, but after bumping their record up to 10-8 on Friday that streak is in the rearview. They put the hurt on the Georgetown Visitation Prep Cubs with a sharp 8-2 win. The Cadets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.
Ava Baxter got the start for St. John's and what a start it was: she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Baxter has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. Skylar Kass relieved her and did a solid job, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.
At the plate, Chloe Armiger was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and four runs. Another player making a difference was Lauren Willenbucher, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one run.
St. John's hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Georgetown Visitation Prep struck out seven times.
As for Georgetown Visitation Prep, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-6. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.
On Georgetown Visitation Prep's side, Lucie Touomou made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one double. Claire Adams also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
St. John's does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Georgetown Visitation Prep, they will head out on the road to face off against National Cathedral at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
