The Antioch Bears waltzed into their matchup Thursday with two straight wins but they left with three. They came out on top against Sycamore by a score of 68-55. Given Antioch's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 46th, while Sycamore is ranked 185th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Antioch's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ta'khyian Whitset, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds. Whitset continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Maddux Bodenhamer was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with nine assists and five rebounds.
Antioch's victory bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Sycamore, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-5.
Antioch won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Goodpasture Christian at 6:00 p.m. on December 22nd. Goodpasture Christian has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 674 points over their last nine matches. Sycamore will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Central Magnet at 6:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024.
