The Mesa Verde Mavericks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 72-43 loss at the hands of Mira Loma. Mesa Verde has not had much luck with Mira Loma recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Mesa Verde lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jeremiah Dauphine, who scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Roman Weddle, who scored nine points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mira Loma to victory, but perhaps none more so than Danny Pukasenko, who scored 14 points along with three steals. Pukasenko is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Kenneth Brown was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five rebounds and two blocks.
Mesa Verde dropped their record down to 3-17 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Mira Loma, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mesa Verde will take on Casa Roble at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Casa Roble knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 24 contests -- so hopefully Mesa Verde likes a good challenge. As for Mira Loma, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Woodland at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Lincoln Twilley and Shine Od Chinzorig.
