Given Downers Grove North's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while Hinsdale Central is ranked 292nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Downers Grove North's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kaitlyn Parker, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for Parker. Ann Stephens was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Downers Grove North has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. As for Hinsdale Central, they bumped their record down to 2-7 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight at home.
