There's no place like home for the Lamar Silver Foxes, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They walked away with a 49-40 win over Latta on Friday. For Lamar, this counts as revenge for the 51-45 defeat Latta walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.
Xavier "Zoom" Jackson went supernova for Lamar, dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten steals. NyShaun "Shaun" Quillen was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Several Vikings players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Pernell Legette, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Jones, who scored seven points along with seven steals.
Lamar pushed their record up to 5-14 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points per game. As for Latta, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-14.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lamar will square off against Lake View at 8:15 p.m. on Monday. Lake View will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Lamar surely won't give up without a fight. As for Latta, they will head out on the road to take on Green Sea Floyds at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Latta focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Friday.
