The Carvers Bay Bears posted their biggest win since December 12, 2023 on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 46-26 margin over Scott's Branch. Given Carvers Bay's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 104th, while Scott's Branch is ranked 222nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Carvers Bay was led to victory by Jurnee Blye and Jerchel Geathers-Washington. Blye scored ten points along with seven rebounds and two steals, while Geathers-Washington dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of K'moni Taylor, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Scott's Branch's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Saniya House, who scored six points, and Tavashia Scott who scored three points.
Carvers Bay's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-8. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 28.67 points. As for Scott's Branch, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carvers Bay will challenge Hemingway at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hemingway comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 23 points in their last nine games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. Scott's Branch won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Johnsonville at 6:15 p.m. on January 17th. Johnsonville comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
