The Billingsley Bears struggled with assists on Friday (the Maplesville Red Devils had 12 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Billingsley took a hard 53-38 fall against Maplesville. Billingsley has not had much luck with Maplesville recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Several Bears players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mason Truesdale, who scored 12 points along with two steals and two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Truesdale has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Danny Boice, who scored nine points.
Maplesville found their leader in underclassman Nehemiah McCary, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 16 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jonathan Wilson, who scored six points along with three steals.
Billingsley has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season. As for Maplesville, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
Billingsley and Loachapoka will face off at 2:00 p.m. on January 22nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Maplesville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Verbena at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Verbena is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.
