The Glenvar Highlanders lost against the Blacksburg Bruins back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The game between the pair wasn't particularly close, with Glenvar falling 55-40. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 283rd, while Blacksburg is ranked 122nd).
Glenvar lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Brody Dawyot, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds. The game was Dawyot's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Adam Franklin, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Glenvar's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Blacksburg, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.
Glenvar will be playing in front of their home fans against Radford at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Blacksburg won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Hidden Valley at 7:00 p.m. on January 9th. Hidden Valley will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
