Whiting extended the longest winning streak in Greater South Shore this week by beating Edison, 33-8. The win marks ninth in a row for the the Oilers.
Wheeler took down Calumet 62-14 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Whiting's AJ Veloz and Patrick Petruf have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Veloz has thrown for 1834 yards this season, while Petruf, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 38 catches for 910 yards. Chad Schultz from North Newton leads the league in rushing with 1059 yards.
Going into this week's game against South Central, Jeff Cain's team's Veloz needs 166 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season.
The Oilers' Petruf is only 90 receiving yards away from breaking 1,000 receiving yards this season as he enters this week's game against the the Satellites.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Whiting takes on South Central. The Oilers have allowed 62 points this season, while Mel Hay's team has given up 122. Whiting allowed 8 points last week as it defeated the Fighting Eagles.
The Bearcats led the league in scoring this week after putting up 62 points on the Warriors.
