For the first time this season, Salpointe Catholic will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They are taking a road trip to take on the Ironwood Ridge Nighthawks at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Thursday, Salpointe Catholic got the win against Walden Grove by a conclusive 10-4. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Lancers.

Isabel Otero was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Izzy Soto also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Otero wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Salpointe Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Ironwood Ridge had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Cougars an 11-0 shutout.
Hayden Bores tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched.
At the plate, Ironwood Ridge got a massive performance out of Elizabeth Smith, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Joliee Romero, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Salpointe Catholic's victory was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-3-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Ironwood Ridge, their record now sits at 10-4.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Salpointe Catholic hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Ironwood Ridge struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.1 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Salpointe Catholic beat Ironwood Ridge 6-1 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Does Salpointe Catholic have another victory up their sleeve, or will Ironwood Ridge turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
