Cardozo waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. The stars were shining brightly for them in a 75-59 win over the Eleanor Roosevelt Raiders. Given the Clerks' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked second in District of Columbia, while the Raiders are ranked 113th in Maryland), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Cardozo's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Harper Lewis, who went 7 of 15 on his way to 19 points in addition to five assists and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Young, who went 7 for 17 on his way to 20 points in addition to six assists and three steals.

Cardozo smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in ten consecutive contests.

Eleanor Roosevelt lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Donte Whitaker, who went 8 of 12 on his way to 20 points. Those 20 points gave Whitaker a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Benaiah Nwosu, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 11 points and eight rebounds.

Cardozo pushed their record up to 9-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 78.2 points per game. As for Eleanor Roosevelt, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

After both having extra time off, Cardozo and Woodson will shake off the cobwebs and square off against one another at 7:00 p.m. on January 3rd. As for Eleanor Roosevelt, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on South River at 6:30 p.m. on January 6th.
