The Dan River Wildcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the William Campbell Generals at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Dan River managed to keep up with Chatham until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Dan River was the victim of a rough 42-18 loss at the hands of Chatham. Dan River was down 35-12 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from D.j. Gregory, who rushed for 175 yards while picking up 7.3 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of Stanford Lipscomb, who threw for 86 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, William Campbell had to suffer through a rough 47-17 loss at the hands of Appomattox County. William Campbell has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Dan River's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 3-5. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Chatham, Altavista, and Magna Vista. As for William Campbell, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Dan River against William Campbell when the teams last played back in November of 2022 as the squad secured a 66-38 win. Will Dan River repeat their success, or does William Campbell have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
